If you are what I call a Profile 2, the low glycemic eating becomes even more critical as you tend towards an imbalance of blood sugar.
(Metabolic Profile test can be found at www.lifestyleforhealth.com under the “Health” tab and “Test Yourself for free self-testing)
The glycemic index indicates how much a food impacts blood sugar. There are 10 foods that are essential to avoid!
Foods You Should Never Eat
- white bread and breakfast cereals (check sugar in most cereals)
- French fries and ketchup (just read the labels for sugar content of ketchup!)
- Potato chips
- Soft drinks
- Milk chocolate bars (thank goodness for dark chocolate!)
- Ice cream
- Baked potatoes
To have more low glycemic foods in your diet, consider consuming more protein (chicken, turkey, fish, buffalo and eggs), Greek yogurt, vegetables (except for corn and potatoes), nuts, and olives.
A simple rule of thumb to remember: the more fiber the lower glycemic and the more protein, the lower glycemic. Basically, a Paleo diet fits a low glycemic eating plan. Check out our website for great protein-based snacks you and make and enjoy!
